My home doesn't have ductwork — can I still get AC?
Absolutely. That’s one of the most common questions we get from owners of older Toronto homes. You have two excellent options: ductless mini-splits (wall-mounted units, no ducts needed) or high velocity systems (small flexible ducts that fit inside existing walls without renovation). We’ll assess your home and recommend the best fit.
How much does AC installation cost in Toronto?
Costs vary depending on the system type, your home’s size, and whether ductwork or electrical upgrades are needed. We provide a free in-home assessment and a written all-in quote with no hidden fees. Financing is available to spread the cost into monthly payments.
How long does an AC installation take?
A standard central AC installation (with existing ductwork) is typically completed in one day. Ductless mini-split installs are also usually a single day. High velocity systems or installations requiring ductwork may take 2–3 days. We’ll give you a clear timeline during the assessment.
Which type of AC system is best for my home?
It depends on your home. If you have ductwork, central air is the most cost-effective whole-home solution. If you don’t have ducts, a ductless mini-split or high velocity system is ideal. For condos, PTAC or fan coil units are usually the right choice. We’ll help you decide during the free assessment — we never push one option over another.
Will installing AC increase my hydro bill significantly?
Modern AC units are far more efficient than older models. A high-SEER unit, properly sized for your home, will cool effectively without running up massive hydro bills. Ductless mini-splits are especially efficient because they cool only the rooms you’re using. We’ll recommend the most energy-efficient option within your budget.
Can you install AC before summer starts?
Yes — and we recommend booking early. Spring (April–May) is the ideal time to install because you’ll have cool air before the heat arrives and our schedule isn’t as packed as it is in June and July. The earlier you book, the more flexibility you’ll have with timing.
Are there any rebates available for new AC installations?
There may be rebates available through programs like the Canada Greener Homes initiative for qualifying energy-efficient installations, particularly heat pumps. We can help you understand what you may be eligible for during the assessment.
